What Field? What View?: Notes error: Field is too large (32K) or View's column & selection formulas are too large

Knowing a little more about the error would reduce debugging time immensely

    [John Curtis here] - The problem is that the scene of the crime is many leagues under the sea.  I'll do what I can to get this looked at.  There are many SPRs for this; most resolved with a diplomatic version of "this is bigger than a bread box" which is it.

    We lost many days searching in frustration for the origin of the error reported in XPages as "Cannot serialize JavaScript function". What function? Where? Which scope? Help!!
