Allow access of files outside of Domino folder

Customer is utilizing XPage and have a link access of files that is commonly stored on network drives for easy access

But there is some issues on where the link is not working and found out that Domino is not allowing to access files outside of it. It would bring many possibilities if it allows file access with security remaining intact as it will provide flexibility on how Domino is working

We would like to know a best possible way to implement a solution for accessing shared drive files from a XPage browser application with the functionalities of OLE of LN desktop client.
