Domino server as fault tolerant to corruptions

When Domino server detects a database that has been tagged as corrupted, Domino server should automatically run fixup on the referenced database..

 

This will prevent Domino server from experiencing crashes, hang, log file is full and etc. Having this kind of feature may avoid server from experiencing server issues due to corruption that may lead to potential server outage, which will cause interruption during production hours.

 

There could be scenarios that on-line fixup would not be sufficient from repairing a certain database, an additional feature that can quarantine databases that has been tagged as corrupted will be useful as well to avoid server from experiencing outages. In this manner server can continue its normal activities and administrator can execute the necessary action on the databases that has been moved to quarantine location on their most convenient time.

    Domino V10 provides self healing capabilities. The implementation is not exactly as you described in your idea, but somewhat similar which is why your idea was connected to the feature that we shipped with Domino v10. There is no plan to back-port this functionality to V9.0.x

    Any chance you can tell me if this will be included in an interim fix
    for 9.0.1 Feature Pack 10
    or in a future Feature Pack for 9.0.1?

    Does that new feature in V10 prevent the server from hanging when it encounters a corrupt database?  If so, that will be a huge step forward, even without the automatic repair.  But if the server is still susceptible to hangs and crashes when a database is corrupted, then the new feature is worthless because the server will die before it repairs the corruption.  Also, the new feature if I understand correctly is only for clustered servers.  Is that right?

    Will the new Domino V10 feature for auto-repairing databases in a cluster help in any way? Is this the feature you are looking for?

    Sounds good but how can the server detect a corrupted database and take action when a corrupted database hangs the server?
