Counter marketing for "Notes/Domino is sold to an Indian company, therefore you should avoid this product"

Based on this announcement, I am quite sure rival companies will spin this to their advantage. Some customer might be further impacted by this "acquisition" as well. How are you planning to counter the negative effect of this announcement ?

    I voted for this, but I believe the issue is more than just the sale of the product.  Yes, some people will see IBM selling something off as a sign that it's not a worthwhile product, but you could counter that with the sale of their PC business to Lenovo.  The product's success will hinge directly on the actions of the new owners.  I believe the larger issue is that there are A LOT of people who passionately HATE Notes.  Many of them haven't see it in years, but still cling to their old impressions.  Changing these impressions needs to be a primary goal of HCL.  It won't happen overnight, but bringing Notes functionality on par with other popular products will help.

    When Iris sold off Notes, Notes thrived.

    When Lotus sold off Notes, Notes thrived.

    When IBM sells Notes, Notes will thrive too.

    IBM never understood Notes.  They only held it back with stupid moves like Eclipse, gutting Support, lying to customers about license needs, requiring Websphere Application Server for Sametime, focusing only on the current quarter's sales, neglecting security standards until it became a crisis(SHA2 and TLS), and halting all innovation.  IBM almost killed Notes. 

    HCL appreciates Notes and is committed to growing it.  This acquisition is the best thing that has happened to Notes in 20 years.
