Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

What is exactly shipped?
I am sorry but on all our PCs Notes V12 is much slower then V11 and this was much slower then V10. It is getting harder and harder to get any accaptence from users for Notes Client. Please improve performance on start up and shut down dramatically!
When will you implement this?
Notes v12 performances are still very poor on macOS.
Yes the client performance improved with 12. Indeed. However, I have to use Thunderbird and Notes simultanously. In comparison, whenever I click into a Thunderbird window, the software responds immediately. Notes sometimes simply hangs or takes a nap for a few seconds(!), it seems to be disabled - even on fast machines. Responsiveness, reaction rate - it needs to be more snappy to really compete. Hopelully the 64-Bit version will help here. Other than that: HCL keep pushing for more :-)
Performance improvements have shipped with Notes 12.0

Please understand partner and customer need. Performance is more importance. Please update in any fix pack of domino 11. We can't wait for new version.
In V11 eclipse remain ... this don’t solve the performance problem.:-(
We will lose others customers..
very unhappy
After 2 years of AHA suggestion ..seem that the TOP popular ideas is not included into the notes client..
The Eclipse platform is bloated and unnecessary for most of the Notes tasks.
Our users don't want to run Notes in Basic mode. They want a mail client as simple to use as GMail in the browser or the GMail app on the iPhone.
Network performance should also not be ignored. Performance in Notes suffers dramatically with a server on the Internet vs on LAN. Some operations, like adding a large number of documents to a folder, can take a fair amount of time. Notes also doesn't seem to handle network instability well.
We are well aware of your request and are investigating options to get this done. The link above was posted to help with the current situation.
I dislike the idea of IBM promoting the idea of improving Notes' performance through additional tuning. Does this means that IBM is not doing a good job tuning the client before releasing to customers and customers need to rely on "hacks" and third party's advice to tune IBM's product?
Just use the basic client - it is lightning fast (start with notes.exe-basic)
IBM: Please dont't forget the basic client when you develop a new ui ;-)
Hello Thomas,
for give perfomance to IBM Notes Client actually the IT need to exclude FOLDER DATA of IBM Notes...
the problem it's the thousands of files that AV need to scan and WIndows Search indexing run on CPU...
This is the problem... and Eclipse is the cause of the problem
A client software like Notes is not authorized to change settings of the Antivirus software. This will remain a task for the desktop admin. For more performance tuning tips take a look at this presentation https://www.slideshare.net/christophadler50/engage-2018-ibm-notes-and-domino-performance-boost-reloaded
Eclipse may be part of the problem however the looks and fell of it is now Notes. This has to be retained even is Eclipse is binned. The right hand task bar is sacrosanct! We have SameTime Meeting, Connection, IT Support, IM etc etc
despite efforts to remove 2 plugins ...
The client's performance is really slow compared to the competition and other software.
any customer always says the same thing ...
The client is heavy ...
Will it be Eclipse's fault?
Do you think it's normal to have a program composed of over 40,000 files?
I do not think so ... and I also think that Eclipse is the cause of the problem
As Ram mentioned: "We have removed some plugins from V10 already to reduce the footprint and runtime performance. This will be an ongoing activity to simplify the package"
This will be an ongoing activity for v10 and v11. If you have SPECIFIC performance issues please open a support case for it.
Probably on my own here but on both of my mid range Windows machines there is nothing wrong with the performance of the Notes Client, it opens in 2 seconds, mail with 33,000 historical records opens mail records within milliseconds. Applications are fine unless the design of the form is poor. I don't understand the problem. Unless using FP10 then that is nightmare.
