One customer is considering to use Domino 12.0.2 running on Docker.
They are sensitive to OS Security update and want to keep OS with the latest security update applied status.
For Domino on Docker for Domino 12.0.2, we know that HCL provided the following container images on Flexnet:
1) HCL Domino Server 12.0.2 Container Image English Domino_12.0.2_Container_Image.tgz
2) HCL Domino 12.0.2FP1 Container image Domino_1202FP1_DockerImage.tgz
3) HCL Domino 12.0.2FP2 Container image Domino_1202FP2_ContainerImage.tgz
The above each image also includes OS which will run on Docker Container (For example, RHEL 8.x.x)
Currently "HCL Domino 12.0.2FP2 Container image " should include the latest OS which is supposed to be safe, but supposed after one year, OS provider provide many security update packages and our customer want to apply all these security update into Docker container which running "HCL Domino 12.0.2FP2 Container image " , There is not good tools and document guide customer how to do that in Domino 12.0.2 installation package and product document.
Although the following was provided on GitHub, but it is not included in ordinary Domino product support area, customer should go through GitHub community for Q/A and support.
https://github.com/HCL-TECH-SOFTWARE/domino-container
Could HCL Dev consider to provide an easy way (tool) to let customer applying OS scuirity updates to existing Domino Docker image and give detail documentation about how to do that in Domino product document in future release?
Thanks!
the "easy tool" is to use the domino-container project on github. It does build exactly the same image as the one provided by HCL. It is an official HCL open source project - start here : https://opensource.hcltechsw.com/domino-container/
Closing this idea as already exists.
